About UsCalifornia Service Dog Academy (CSDA) is a non-profit dedicated to raising, training & providing Service Dogs to people that legitimately need them. CSDA is an Assistance Dogs International accredited member and adheres to a high standard of training for both dogs & handlers. CSDA is dedicated to using positive reinforcement training methods with our dogs.
Inspired by countless clients over the years who have had trouble finding a quality dog to assist them with their disabilities, California Service Dog Academy (CSDA) was founded in 2018 by Matthew & Rebecca Corso. As the owners of a dog training and behavior consulting company, Matt & Rebecca are used to helping dogs of all shapes and sizes with their training and behavior needs. When they began consulting with people interested in service dogs, it became clear that the demand for good dogs far outweighed the supply. As Matt & Rebecca advised individuals interested in “owner trained service dogs” they also assisted with all the aspects involved in the selection, evaluation and training of puppies and dogs for service work. The work with their clients and the so often long and heartbreaking journey to find a dog led them to create CSDA with the hope of providing appropriate dogs to those who truly need them. |

Chief Executive OfficerMatthew's multifaceted career spans a remarkable 25 years in the business and technology sector with a multinational conglomerate. However, his true calling emerged from a personal crucible, where the unconditional support of his dogs, Rusty and Benji, carried him through challenging times. Alongside his wife, Rebecca, their shared resilience blossomed into the California Service Dog Academy (CSDA) in 2017, where Matthew currently volunteers as CEO. CSDA, now a proud member of Assistance Dogs International, has become a sanctuary for veterans combating PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Under Matthew's stewardship, CSDA has garnered federal grants for its exemplary work, annually reducing mental health stressors for 20-60 veterans by over 80% as assessed by licensed clinicians. This venture has also propelled Matthew on a new endeavor, pursuing a Juris Doctorate to advocate legally for Veterans and those facing discrimination.
